Established in 1982 specialising in pipework fabrication and installation, it was incorporated in May 2015 and currently employs over 100 staff. With a turnover of £18.2m it is now a multi-disciplined mechanical engineering company involved in major contract work. 

To ensure its own corporate resilience and to provide its apprentices with the highest standard of instruction the JES Skills Academy was set up in 2023. Its objective was to guarantee that on completion of their training, all of their apprentices were work ready and fit for immediate employment. The Academy has radically furthered its ambitions and is now a Centre of Excellence for all of south west Wales dedicated to providing high-quality education and skills development in the field of welding. 

The Academy is committed to equipping individuals from school pupils seeking career pathways, to already qualified welders looking to further upskill, with the knowledge, practical expertise, high-quality education and skills development needed to excel in the welding industry.

 

Job Summary:

 

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for mapping out and executing the entire project lifecycle, ensuring all aspects are delivered to the highest standards. This role requires strong project management skills, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

 

The position offered is considered a Part Time appointment, limited to the project’s duration of 12 months maximum, with termination confirmed as no later than the end of February 2025. It would suit a freelance appointment or be available on a  subcontract basis, the details of which are open to negotiation. 

Responsibilities:

Project Planning:

  • Develop a comprehensive project plan outlining tasks, timelines, and resources required for the establishment of the welding training academy.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define project scope and objectives.

 

Budget Management:​

  • Create and manage the project budget, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively.

  • Monitor and report on budgetary performance throughout the project.

 

 Timeline Management:​

  • Develop a detailed project timeline to ensure the timely delivery of milestones and the overall project.

  • Monitor and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes.

 

Team Collaboration:​

  • Work closely with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to coordinate project activities.

  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among team members.

 

Risk Management:​

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Proactively address issues that may impact project timelines or outcomes.

 

Reporting:

  • Provide regular status updates and progress reports to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain transparent and open communication channels throughout the project.

 

Quality Assurance:​

  • Ensure all deliverables meet established quality standards.

  • Implement and oversee quality assurance processes.

 

Prince2 Methodology:

  • Apply Prince2 principles and methodology to project management activities.

  • Ensure adherence to best practices and standards.

 

Project Management Software:

  • Utilise recognised project management software (e.g., Zoho Projects) for efficient planning, tracking, and reporting.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, preferably in the establishment of educational or training facilities.

  • Prince2 accreditation is required.

  • Proficiency in recognised project management software (e.g., Zoho Projects).

  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and remotely.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements.
