To ensure its own corporate resilience and to provide its apprentices with the highest standard of instruction the JES Skills Academy was set up in 2023. Its objective was to guarantee that on completion of their training, all of their apprentices were work ready and fit for immediate employment. The Academy has radically furthered its ambitions and is now a Centre of Excellence for all of south west Wales, dedicated to providing high-quality education and skills development in the field of welding.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pipe Fitting Instructor to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of aspiring professionals in the welding industry.
Job Summary:
The Senior Pipe Fitting Instructor will hold a key position and play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of welders, fabricators and pipe-fitters, by delivering comprehensive training programs relating to the installation, repair and maintenance of piping systems for heating and cooling, high-pressure transport, oil and chemicals, natural gas and more. You will be involved in both hands-on training and classroom instruction to help those in your charge, acquire the skills and develop the ability to understand, read and implement the design specifications that allow them to cut and weld pipes, perform routine inspections, and lay pipework. Your expertise in the techniques, safety protocols, and industry best practices required, will be crucial in ensuring that our Academy attendees receive top-notch instruction and hands-on experience.
Responsibilities:

Conduct in-depth pipe fitting classes, covering a range of techniques, materials, and processes.

Update curriculum materials to align with industry standards, advancements and best practice.

Incorporate practical, hands-on exercises to enhance the learning experience.

Provide hands-on training, demonstrations, and practical exercises to enhance students' skills.

Assess and evaluate students' performance, providing constructive feedback for improvement.

Collaborate with the curriculum development team to enhance training materials and programs.

Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and safety regulations.

Mentor and support junior instructors, fostering a collaborative and dynamic teaching environment.

Maintain a safe and organised pipe fitting training facility, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Participate in industry events, workshops, and conferences to stay connected with the welding community.

Foster positive relationships with Academy learners, addressing their needs and concerns.
Qualifications:

Extensive experience in the Mechanical Engineering industry, with a detailed focus on pipe fitting and fabrication.

Recognised pipe fitting and welding certifications.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to create an engaging and effective learning environment.

Commitment to the highest safety standards and the ability to instil rigorous safety consciousness in students.

Teaching or training experience, preferably in a vocational or technical education setting.

Continuous learning mindset and willingness to adapt to industry changes.
Education:

NVQ Level 3 Pipefitting
-
Must be a time served pipefitter with 10+ years’ experience
